We've all experienced some sort of trauma in our lifetime. Something that happened to me might not have been traumatic if it happened to you, and vice versa. Is there always one truth? Reality and truth to me - might be the same for you. I'm big on honesty and I have trust issues. I want to know what the truth is, I want the right answer. A nursing professor once told me "sometimes you don't need to know why, you just need to know it is." Um, what?! That still goes through my mind over a decade later. But, what I've come to realize is.... if you know it is, you can reverse engineer it. There is "research" to support everything although not every source is a reputable one.

Please tell me why I'm in my 40s and just now realizing:

women have been historically underrepresented in research - true

mental health affects physical health - facts

trauma can cause epigenetic changes in DNA - legit

mind-body medicine - real

emotional freedom techniques (EFT) - real

hypnotherapy - real

meditation - legit

Has anyone ever suggested Saffron for depression, or EMDR for unprocessed trauma? Have you ever had a healthcare practitioner suggest ketamine, cannabis, or psilocybin? I haven't. If we were to ask our healthcare provider about ketamine, would they think we're crazy? When Lady Gaga talks about fibromyalgia or Megan Thee Stallion talks about mental health treatment, people listen. I hope that someday, we will all get that same attention. As I continue to research, I'm going to share what I find. First up - energies.

Types of Energies

1. Physical Energy

Physical energy is what we typically think of when we talk about exertion. This type of energy powers our movements and actions and can be measured in calories. For example, a person burns about 100 calories when taking a 20-minute walk at a moderate pace. Understanding your physical energy levels can help optimize your daily routine, ensuring you make the most out of your activities without overexertion.

2. Emotional Energy

Emotional energy is tied to the feelings we experience—like joy, love, anger, and sadness. Positive emotions can uplift our spirits and foster connections, while negative emotions can drain us. Transforming your emotional state can allow a healthier flow of emotional energy.

3. Mental Energy

Mental energy encompasses our cognitive functions, including focus and clarity. Stress, nutrition, and sleep can greatly influence this energy. A little stress can increase alertness but too much stress is very f'ing bad.

4. Spiritual Energy

Spiritual energy connects us to our larger purpose and the universe (and/or God). It reflects our beliefs and the sense of connection we hold with the world and others. Fostering spiritual energy often leads to personal growth and emotional well-being.

Take some time to reflect. Are your vibes off? Can you feel the energy around you?

Feel free to share your experiences and thoughts :)
